Chamomile Roman Oil

Like chamomile German oil, chamomile Roman oil too has a calming effect during bouts of nervousness, mental distress and psychological trauma. It has greater effect in treating PMS and other menstrual and menopausal problems. Additionally, chamomile Roman essential oil can be used as a great curing agent for abscesses, allergies, arthritis, boils, colic, cuts, cystitis, dermatitis, dysmenorrhea, earache, flatulence, hair, headache, inflamed skin, insect bites, insomnia, nausea, neuralgia, PMS, rheumatism, sores, sprains, strains, stress, and wounds.

Since chamomile Roman oil easily blends with other oils it is greatly used in numerous cosmetics and skincare products. It brings comfort to sensitive skin and it can also be used for general care of the skin. Due to its calming effect chamomile can also be used to make wonderful late night tea to ensure restful sleep. Chamomile Roman oil is a great aromatherapy essential oil.

Chamomile has a long history of usage as a herb. It has been used in England for more than a thousand years and it is known as one of the nine sacred Saxon herbs christened as Maythen. That is why it is also popularly called "English chamomile". In fact it is perhaps the most widely used relaxing nervine herb in the western world. It was also an integral part of the ancient Egyptian and Moorish medical systems.

The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried flowering heads or whole plant of the chamomile herb. Upon distillation the oil has a skyblue hue with a clean, medicinal but floral aroma. It is harvested at full bloom during the months of July and August.
