Chamomile German Oil

Chamomile German essential oil is extracted from Matricaria chamomilla (M. recutica) and is also known as blue chamomile, Hungarian chamomile and single chamomile. One of the most potent anti-inflammatory essential oils chamomile German oil has an extraordinary cooling effect that immediately soothes and relieves. This essential oil can also be used for treating all kinds of stress-related disturbances such as nervous tension, migraine, nervous dyspepsia, sleeplessness and distress. Aside from treating burn injuries chamomile German oil can also be used to bring relief in case of gastrointestinal maladies. It can also be directly applied on the skin for curing sunburn, eczema, abscess, allergies, hives and plenty of other skin disorders.

Chamomile German oil is especially useful in calming colic children without manifesting adverse side-effects. It has a special connection with the female body system and perhaps that is why the botanical name of Chamomile, "Martricaria", means "Caring for the womb".

The therapeutic properties of chamomile German oil are analgesic, anti-allergenic, anti-spasmodic, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, antiphlogistic, bactericidal, carminative, cicatrisant, cholagogue, emmenagogue, hepatic, digestive, sedative, stomachic, vermifuge, vasoconstrictor and vulnerary.

Chamomile German oil has a straw-like fragrance, it is dark blue in colour and it has got low to medium viscosity. Contrary to what the name suggests this chamomile essential oil is cultivated mostly in Hungary, Eastern Europe, France and Egypt, and not in Germany. The oil is extracted from the flowers by steam distillation.

It has no particular side-effect but it should be avoided in high-quality and especially during pregnancy.
